The Golden milk, The best healthy drink
I was reading about Ayurveda, when i saw this “strange” recipe. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical at the beginning…but finally I was attracted by this beautiful yellow color, and this spice taste.
So today, I wanted to share with you this healthy and comfy drink, ideal for winter time.
In this easy but healthy recipe, you will learn how to create an anti-inflammatory and an immune system boosting drink! In India the “Golden Milk” is also called “haldi doodh”.
This fabulous drink is made with turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and a touch of pepper … You will love this powerful drink.
The secret of this wonderful drink is turmeric. Actually, it is curcumin, the main component of turmeric that gives it these many healthy properties anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-oxidant, antiseptic …
Did you know that turmeric was used medicinally almost 4,500 years ago! I was also used in India as culinary spices and also in wedding to ward off evil spirits and also to dye fabrics.
The Yogis used this healthy drink to improve their flexibility.
However, curcumin is very little absorbed by our digestive system. So to optimize its effectiveness, it is necessary to add piperine (contained in pepper), ginger and also lipids (because curcumin dissolves only in a fat body).
This all-in-one drink has been used to aid many ailments, including colds, coughs, inflammation, aches, pains, and restlessness. You can use it to treat, prevent some conditions or just as a healthy comfy drink, especially on autumn or winter days.
I personally use plant-based milk as almond or oat milk to cook this fabulous drink, as i don’t tolerate cow milk. In this case, just be sure to choose a plant-based milk enriched in calcium and vitamin D for more bone-strengthening benefits!
